The IHSS Public Authority needs volunteers for general office support and to help coordinate caregiver/consumer training classes and events. Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Answering a phone line dedicated to providing information about educational opportunities.
- Registering IHSS caregivers and consumers for training classes.
- Assisting staff with collecting information about training classes.
- Mailing reminder cards to participants of upcoming training classes.
- Making reminder calls to the participants of training classes.
- Attending classes to assist with participant check-in and to act as greeter.
- Stuffing envelopes with flyers announcing future training classes.
- Making photocopies and collate training materials for packets.
- Verifying reference information of caregiver applicants.
- And much, much more; the variety is excellent!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to work in a positive and professional manner.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- An open and non-judgmental attitude towards people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computers, with background in Microsoft Office, is helpful but not necessary.
- Be available to work during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening hours when classes are offered after 5:00 p.m.
